LONG POST INCOMING! Last week I completed my first official road race Half Marathon! 13.1 miles! It was a personal goal of mine I am so happy to have accomplished and I had a blast doing it. I am so thankful for my amazing supporters who came to the race and others who encouraged me all year, especially @karaann_o who helps me become a better person everyday! At the beginning of this year I decided to read a book (something I never do). It was called “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. In essence, the theory behind this is: start by choosing one thing that you want to do more of and that you want to make a positive habit in your life. It might be exercising more, eating healthier, saving more money, etc. Chose ONE thing and start tracking it and make yourself a structured and obtainable schedule with goals of how you are going to achieve making that thing a habit. Then let the compound effect work its magic. So, I chose one thing: running. I made a schedule of miles per week and forced myself to stick to it for the first few months. Now, 11 months later it’s a passion of mine and I’ve ran over 375 miles this year and enjoyed every second of it! Achieving this goal has also helped me become healthier in other ways of my life as I am focusing more on my diet, weight training, supplementation and other facets of health because I want to become a better runner. Running has also drastically improved my mental and cardiovascular health. This has also boiled over into other parts of my life and is challenging me to be a better husband to my amazing wife, a better PT for my patients, etc. The point is, go make a positive change for your life! You can do it! All you have to do is make one small and simple decision and be consistent and self-disciplined! Here’s to becoming better humans! Full Marathon coming in 2025!
