The photo on the left is me in El Paso Texas 48 years ago at 17. My mom and I took a Greyhound bus from Port Authority in New York City all the way to El Paso Texas because she didn't want to fly. The bus stopped in every city across the country it seems, but it was an adventure. We were visiting Aunt Gertie and Uncle Russell who lived there. Thus started my love affair with Texas and the south west. Although I am, and will always be a Brooklyn girl, the east coast winters have always been brutal for me so I've always been known to have a cold weather escape plan.
