I’ve said this before, replicating oppression in your home, doesn’t prepare kids for the “real world”, it normalizes oppression. So much so that even as adults you have people who don’t recognize toxic behaviors in themselves or others. That is not a world I want my daughter feeling comfortable in. She has the right to check me when she’s feeling disrespected. And I’ll have her back when she checks any other adult who disrespects her.
