NYC is known for its speakeasies from bars hidden in dark alleys to entering through an ice-cream shop here is a list of some of the most iconic speakeasies @thebackroomnyc - is one of the only speakeasies in New York City that operated during Prohibition and is still in existence today. Look for the sign, The Lower East Side Toy Company, and find your way downstairs for cocktails in a teacup ☕️ LB - no sign only one small door, this bar was founded by the famous bartender Sasha Petraske. The cocktails are great, candlelit ambiance and live jazz 🎷 @thelittleshopny - you enter this hidden bar through a bodega, you can buy snacks in the bodega and have them at the bar 🛒 @chapelbarnyc - located inside an actual chapel this is one of the most unique bars I’ve been to. The ambiance is great, interesting selection of cocktails and perfect for a date night ⛪️ @theuesnyc - hidden in the back of an ice-cream shop is this speakeasy. In order to enter the magic words are “Do you have more ice-cream in the back?”. The cocktails have a really fun presentation 🍦 @raineslawofwinning - you ring a doorbell and wait for the door to open once inside you will be greeted by an intimate atmosphere with dim lighting 🥃 @thecampbellnyc - located inside of Grand Central Station in what used to be the office of a 1920’s mogul. Gossip Girl fans will recognize this bar 🍸 @pdtnyc - hidden inside a hotdog shop and you enter through a telephone booth, making it one of the most famous speakeasy bars in NYC. The hotdog is a must try! 🌭 @employeesonlyny - one of my favorite bars of NYC, Art Deco interior, amazing mixology and always a good vibe. Go on a Sunday night for a surprise performance 💃🏼 @patentpendingnyc - located in the cellar of the Radio Wave Building, where once Nikola Tesla lived and worked. This bar will transport you to a different time, make sure to try the Nikola Tesla cocktail based on rakija 💡 @fig19nyc - hidden inside a gallery is this literally hidden gem of the LES.
