Being “childfree” was the best choice for me. I make the most of being an aunt to all the great kids in my life. Putting myself first though in my twenties allowed me to foster my growth, self-confidence and worth. It made me a better human - realizing that it’s ok to not be a mother but to support those moms in my life instead. So far, so good. Frankly, I’d do it all over again. I remember visiting my Dad in the hospital and his neighbour being excited to see me too. It turned out that his kids had never visited him at all since his admittance. He looked broken-hearted as he said he missed them terribly. That stuck with me...and I’m reminded of that every single time some troll tells me I’ll die alone (and that I deserve to). Sigh... Anyways - this is all to say that it’s ok to make this choice. It worked out very well for me. No regrets.
