Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a lifelong fan of Sheryl Crow. Before ‘All I Wanna Do’ came out, I saw a video for Leaving Las Vegas in a department store, and I’ve been an admirer of her artistry ever since. Because of Sheryl, I know about Derek and the Dominos, the Allman Brothers, the Steve Miller Band, and many others- she really is a gateway artist who carried and passed the torch of brilliant musicians before her- and I see her influence everywhere in artists today. I’ve seen her live multiple times (I even woke my 20-something self up early and went to see her on the Today Show in NYC- that was me climbing the chain link fence and screaming- lol), and I have all of her recordings. So I was beyond excited that @showtime would be airing an intimate, generous, and revelatory documentary about her life and career, that not only gave so much insight into all that she’s been through to become the musician and businesswoman that she is, but even further cemented what I’ve always known: that @sherylcrow is an amazing, incredibly talented, and wonderful woman, who deserves to be in the conversation of the great rock n’ roll artists of all time.
