GET TO KNOW ME! What a week it’s been & it’s only Wednesday! I think it’s time I did an introductory post & as today is #nationalstorytellingweek here’s mine! I’m a 46 year old mother of 4, 1 in my heart & 3 on earth. I’ve been passionate about skincare since 13, when I first started using an eye cream, @thebodyshop elderflower eye gel, anyone remember it? I got into skincare for 2 reasons, watching my mother who used zero skincare age before my eyes & the advent of teenage spots, which led me to try every ingredient under the sun & sparked my passion for all things skin! Reading & writing are also passions, I did a degree in English & history, but never really used it until now as the English part serves me well for the journalistic aspect of this! I’m also passionate about health & wellness, which came later, after the birth of my first child, who’s now 25- scary! I wanted to give him the best start in life so got really into nutrition then. That passion grew even more after the births of my other children & also because I discovered that certain foods had anti ageing properties! I’m a total science nerd (which is mad as I hated it in school) & absolutely love devouring scientific studies for my content. My children helped detract from a very unhappy, abusive marriage, & 12 years ago I finally plucked up the courage to leave & I’ve never looked back. As well as skincare, I touch on grief & loss as I’ve lost 2 beloved brothers as well as my baby son. Speaking about these often taboo issues helps normalise them & helps others feel less alone, & I’ve gotten so many messages that confirm this. Family & friends have always came to me for skincare & health advice & I often thought about starting a blog, but being a technophobe I kept putting it off, until I finally took the plunge 4 years ago & here I am! I recently took my skincare to another level & am now qualified with @cibtacuk & I’m looking forward to seeing where my skincare journey takes me next!
