☀️Did you know...? Our boathouse was damaged in an earthquake! This short series of fun facts will be posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays as part of a project by Edward Zarate as part of his internship. In 1994, the Northridge earthquake hit and damaged freeways, park structures and glass windows of houses and businesses. The Boathouse Gallery at Plaza de la Raza was also damaged and closed temporarily. The community was saddened by the damaged of the Boathouse Gallery. Without the gallery, there is no art exhibitions at Plaza and people were sad. People discribed seeing the Boathouse behind a chain-link fence as painful. The Boathouse closed for four years. After four years of disrepair and, in the last year and a half, renovation, the Boathouse Gallery was open again! The gallery started a new life with a restored exterior and a freshly painted interior! The Boathouse Gallery had it's first show, "Hecho en Califas: The Last Decade".
