5 things to do with Tahini, the Middle Eastern liquid gold ⚱️
Originated in Levantine (the geographical land bridge between Africa and Eurasia) and made from stone ground toasted sesame seeds, Tahini in many households, is a staple ingredient due to its versatility and high nutritional properties. From Sweet to savoury, this ingredient is easy to fall in love with.
DIP - Start by mastering a Tahini dip by whisking Tahini with lemon juice, minced garlic, salt and cold water until it reaches a creamy dip consistency (great on a crusty sourdough with sliced tomato for breakfast).
DRESSING - Whisk it with lemon juice (or red wine vinegar), crushed garlic, salt and water to a thin consistency for a delicious dressing over grilled/roasted eggplant.
COATING - Mix with lemon juice, smoked paprika and salt for a coating over whole/florettes cauliflower then roast until golden brown as a side dish (or main).
ENERGY BALLS - Mix (in a food processor) tahini with medjoul dates, nuts of your choice, date molasses, cacao and a pinch of salt. Form to balls and dust with cacao and toasted sesame seeds.
HALVA SPREAD - Move over Nutella cos this one is here to stay: Mix equal amounts of tahini and honey with a pinch of salt and keep on mixing until it reaches a creamy spread consistency.
BROWNIES - Lace Tahini through brownie mixture before you bake it... decadent. (yes i know that's the 6th point... couldn't help it)
