Post Care Blunders 😵 I’ve certainly seen my share of things - most likely because I double and triple explain the why’s and how’s of proper post care (and much to the eye rolling of clients, you know you love me). It is all about minimizing risks and gaining guaranteed results. So learn your rules! This includes everything from a facial to a peel, laser, wax and everything in between - the after can be just as important as the treatment itself. Okay a few of my favorite stories ☝🏻Post chemical peel a client texted a few days later and said “now I understand why you told me no working out, I’m sorry I’ll never do that again” cue me 😳 scared what her skin would look like - increased blood flow and heat while the skin is in the shedding/healing phase means risk of blistering, irritation and even hyperpigmentation. Thankfully she quickly cooled herself down and realized it wasn’t in her best interest so after some lengthy redness healed great! ✌🏻A client decided that the post treatment products would result in breaking them out (it wouldn’t) so just used whatever they had at home. Called complaining they were red, itchy and dry. I asked how they were using the products and they said they hadn’t in. I told them I’d have some extra calming ready for them at the spa but to start the products immediately to help repair the barrier. The home products were not doing the repair any help most products are meant for intact, unbroken skin - which is exactly what skin post treatment is!
