A little controversy! On Tuesday night, we produced a talk at the Y with Jake Tapper. He has a book out called Original Sin, about Joe Biden’s mental decline and the insider effort to cover it up. One of the questions the book asks is, who knew he was in mental decline and when did they know it? According to Jake’s reporting, some in Biden’s circle knew he was declining mentally as early as 2015. And Jake said Covid was a gift to Biden, because it kept him from a busy campaign schedule that otherwise could’ve exposed his weakened physical and mental state. But the talk ended on a positive note. He called for greater transparency from politicians about their health. And he said that we are not a reflection of our presidents, and that our presidents aren’t a perfect relfection of us. Backstage, I asked him how his CNN show is going. He said it’s going well! He talked a little about how he’s handling blowback. He said that Jon Stewart’s critique of him was “surprising.” He’s working on a new book, due in October. The guy’s on CNN five nights a week, and he has two books coming out within six months of each other. I don’t know how he finds the time.
