June 30, 2013: Art Beyond the Glass II Following our inaugural event at Sadie, ABTG took over the third floor of the landmark @losangelesathleticclub in Downtown LA. The city’s first private club, LAAC was founded in 1880, when Los Angeles was a town of only 11,000 people! 😲 Famous LAAC members included Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks Jr, Rudolph Valentino, Mary Pickford, Harold Lloyd, L. Frank Baum, Henry Huntington, Johnny Weissmuller, and Duke Kahanamoku, the father of modern surfing 🏄🏾‍♂️ 🎸🖼 Live performances and the art gallery were located in the Centennial Ballroom, which hosted a gala for the athletes and hostesses of the 1932 LA Olympics 🥇 One of the all-time ABTG moments was Anna Knudson as a “Moscow Mule” bursting out of the Blammo Box at the climax of the @wonkaer & @mygoodfriendjordan magic show 💥 ABTG II raised $13,700 for @artshare_la, more than double our first-year fundraising total! 🙏 📸 @toiye #ABTGLA #tbt
