When we discovered this former rock quarry (now museum) was only 10 minutes from our wedding venue, we immediately knew we had to host our welcome event there. It’s hard to adequately describe this space - it’s vast open rooms of carved out rock where they once extracted limestone, which is now being used as a museum space with over 100 projectors displaying different exhibits on various artists and topics. When we toured the museum we were in complete awe of the experience, and then we had a crazy idea. “What if we could project our own videos on these rocks?”. A few conversations later, Mylène & Geoffrey of @whiteedenweddings told us it had never been done before, but was possible (a sign that we chose the best wedding planners). We began digging through our archives of unused footage that we’d captured over the years, hours and hours of videos, some of them 10 years old, from the earliest days of our adventures. Many hard drives later, we sent some compilations of our memories to the projection technicians at Carrières des Lumières. But it wasn’t until we walked into our welcome event space that we saw the result of our crazy idea. Before we walked in, we said to each other: this is either going to be a little disappointing, or it’s going to be the most insane visual storytelling of our relationship. We walked in, ahead of our guests, and we were absolutely blown away. The last 10 years flashed before our eyes. This was the most meaningful, beautiful way to kick off our wedding weekend, by telling our story in the most unique, immersive way.
