On Gun Violence Prevention Day of Action, I want to spotlight an incredible organization in my district, Youth ALIVE!, who is doing the work on the frontlines and in the community to prevent violence. I was able to meet with some of their staff in June, including this young man Josh, who shared his story with us that day. We worked hard to secure federal funds to support this critical work, but more action is needed both here in Oakland and across the country. This starts with passing legislation to ban assault weapons, enact universal background checks, and much more. #EndGunViolence
