Book 1 in the series, THE CORPSE FLOWER, gave readers a deep-dive into the dark secrets in protagonist Heloise’s past. I really enjoyed that one, but honestly loved this new series installment much more!!! I do think you could read this one on its own, though there are a few threads involving Heloise’s personal life that will make more sense if you’ve read THE CORPSE FLOWER. THE COLLECTOR is a dark, gripping race to track down a missing boy. 👀 10 year old Lukas was last seen waving goodbye to his father at school drop-off one morning...and then he vanished without a trace. Journalist Heloise Kaldan is assigned to write about the disappearance. Meanwhile, police officer Erik Schafer and his colleagues are investigating a parallel case: the murder of a former soldier shot execution-style in his Copenhagen apartment. How are the two cases interconnected? Will Lukas be found before it’s too late? 😳 I’ve been in the WORST reading slump recently & it took returning to my favorite subgenre, Nordic Noir, to fix me. 😂 I devoured THE COLLECTOR in two sittings. I LOVED returning to one of my favorite cities in the world (Copenhagen 🇩🇰!!!) through the pages of this book—and doing so alongside Anne Mette Hancock’s compelling characters made it all the more enjoyable. I love the interplay between Hancock’s two protagonists and love how DARK she is willing to go in her stories. There’s nothing I love more than a dark, gritty, atmospheric Nordic crime novel, and this book delivered!!🖤 this was a 4.5/5 ⭐️ read for me.
