Medal Monday: Great North Run, ‘22 🏅🥹 emotional. memorable. inspirational. educational. The perfect PB race? FAR from it. The race I didn’t know I needed? 1000%. Did I have a great time? LOVED it! 🏁 1:52:22 So this race taught me that it’s OK to set big scary goals.. & then fail at executing (for now!). All in all, I consider the race a success. I worked for it, turned up for myself and embraced every emotion that came with the highs and lows of the race. 🙏🏾✨ NEWCASTLE, It’s hard to articulate why the Great North Run is so special to people who haven’t ran the race before. The course is tough, hotels are expensive, the journey back from South Shields to Newcastle is a nightmare.. but somehow I feel blessed to have experienced this bucket list race two years in a row 🙌🏾 For me, the people make GNR. “ordinary people doing extraordinary things” 👈🏾🫶🏾 It’s not rich in ethnic diversity (at a grass roots level) but the sense of charity and support from the North East crowd is nothing I’ve EVER experienced before. Shout out to the lady who was running for @mndassoc —we cried & shared stories of our Dad’s battle with the disease. Just as I had done the previous year, she was running the race in memory of her Dad. 💙🧡 The course definitely took a part of my soul but I lived to tell the story and put more work in ahead of @nycmarathon 😂👊🏾 p.s. — all races should end at the beach 👀🥰 Mich, xo
