"Having shot film projects together before, James and I knew we would get the beautiful colour rendition we wanted to help convey this emotional story from shooting film. When we start to discover Joels alternate egos within his imagination, it was crucial for us to capture this in a way that felt different hence using 8, 16 and 35mm. James meticulously mapped out exactly where each format would add to the story. We particularly liked shooting tungsten film with an 85 in daylight conditions, giving a richer feel to the colours." ⠀ DP @pjmortlock on LOOK FOR THE DIAMONDS, a short documentary about living with the monotony and health aspects of kidney dialysis. The film follows Joel Goldberg @drgoldschwartz who needs to dialyse every day for 2 hours and goes into his imagination to see how he overcomes this daily routine. Multiple formats (Super 8, 16mm and 35mm 4 perf) of film were used to help heighten the visual feel of Joels daydreams during the time it takes for him to dialyse, to provide a stark contrast to the reality of the boredom of home dialysis. The film will be showing at festivals throughout the summer.
