My dad prepared me for everything except losing him. There are so many nouns you could use to describe him: artist, surfer, rock climber, mountaineer, racquetball champion, mountain biker, outdoorsman, but of course the most important to him was loving husband and father. To him, I was his best buddy. We honored my dads life last week with a beautiful memorial service, paddle out, and burial ceremony. And what an amazing storied life it was. I’m still not ready to say good-bye. Instead I will keep his legacy alive by focusing on being more like him: selfless, adventurous, brave, compassionate, creative, fun, appreciative of nature, and by always leaving things better than I found them. 💛💛💛
