"While on the plane heading to South Central LA from Fort Worth TX, I get the text ‘I need you in Venice beach Tuesday for a shoot, can you be there? Pls & Thx’. The Mecca of fitness, Golds Gym Venice Beach has changed very little through the years. This was my first visit and to be filming, what an experience. ⠀ Shooting super 8 is such a reward, but you must know your shots, settings, and be hair sharp on your focus. Then you pray that no shipper loses your footage. Ha! ⠀ Being at Golds Gym filming Simeon Panda for a fitness campaign was primarily a digital video shoot, but I brought my Nizo 481 macro and some Kodak film along to capture some extras. With the client happy to include these super 8 shots, the video and stills you’ll see here are from this exact shoot. ⠀ I love capturing moments on film because you must plan and set your shot otherwise, you’re just wasting money and time for the client. The Nizo camera I used for this Gold’s Gym campaign is the 481 Macro and even though it sets the exposure automatically, I still have to pull the focus manually, but hey, isn’t that the fun in it?" ⠀ Director and DP @underwoodMannn on shooting portions of the @goldsgym THE MECCA METHOD spot featuring @simeonpanda on film.
