It’s rare that a bike ride scares me. Over the past decade and 210000+ k’s I’ve ridden plenty of big ones, many fast ones, and a bunch of multi-day ones. But give me 1173 kilometers of brutal gravel and mountain bike terrain through the desert of Morocco’s Atlas and Anti-Atlas, with over 23000 meters of climbing, some hike-a-bike, completely unsupported and just a short list of refueling stops along the way, and yeah... you could say I’m a touch nervous. It’s been two years since I received my entry, 18 months since it was meant to go ahead, three editions postponed and now there’s just 24 hours until kick off. @atlasmountainrace. Let’s do this.
