"We shot Giveon's, “Lost Me” on two 35mm film formats. We shot 3 perf 35mm with Kodak 5219 and 5213 for our STEDICAM and car mount work, which included all of the choreography in the film. We decided to use 4 perf Kodak 5219 and 5213 for our work that was more photographic and still. The director Salomon Lighthelm, had referenced fashion and still photography for a lot of the non story telling or choreography moments, so we shot a lot of static frames in 4 perf and focused on compositions and portraits of “The beings”, as we called them who were the characters sort of witnessing the love story unfold between Giveon and the women he has fallen to earth for. Salomon shoots all of his projects on Film, so shooting this project on 35mm was a very easy decision. There’s just nothing like shooting film stock, even in all of the low light scenarios we had, it’s just so reliable and delivers the energy we were after right out of the gate. We fully embraced the look of the tungsten stock and did very little correction to the scans to deliver basically what was on the negative as shot."
