Day in the Life of a Stylist - Part 1️⃣ Pulling Looks & Acquiring Clothes As a stylist I have two offerings; wardrobe transformations and editorial styling. For wardrobe transformations, I style everyday people who want to enhance their style. When I style editorials I work closely with photographers to create looks for models based off of a concept or a moodboard. Either way, it is important to know your client’s sizes. For models it is easier because they usually have comp cards that have detailed information about their height, waist, chest/bust, inseam, etc. This is really useful for the common person as well because it can inform how you shop online. Not every clothing brand has the same sizing conventions! How do stylist acquire clothes? If I am doing a wardrobe transformations, my client gives me a budget and I become a personal shopper. Personally, I get creative with buying clothes whether it’s thrifting, buying locally, or shopping online. If I am styling an editorial I usually “pull looks” from some of my favorite local brands and I agree to pay for the clothes if they become damaged (model would be responsible) and I agree to tag them in any posts that I would do on socials. After the shoot I schedule a time to bring the garments back safe and sound. An alternate way to acquire clothes for an editorial shoot is Buy & Return. It’s as easy as it sounds. Some store won’t allow you to pull looks for free so you buy them, have them photoshoot (keep the tags 🏷 on) and return them within the allotted return policy window. It is usually 30 days for a lot of stores. Comment some of your favorite stores to shop in Chicago! Where should I pull for my next shoot? ✨😎 #Styling #fashion #tutorial #reel #stylingtips #highfashion #howto #diy #thrifted #thrifting #fashionblogger #fashionstyle #styleinfluencer #styleinspiration #stylegram #fashiontrends #fashiontips #fashionforward #sustainablefashion #sustainability #chicagofashion #chicago #chicagofashioncoalition
