PLEASE NOTICE ME is a body of work consisting of prints, installations and paintings, directed by me and produced with the support, collaboration and contribution of my team at @jugendwerk_cph . Most of the objects have come to life by reinterpreting what was considered trash/scrap. My team and i have roamed various areas of the city and numerous scrapyards to find objects that we thought had potential for reinterpretation. The title PLEASE NOTICE ME represents my reflection on how these forgotten/abandoned objects yearn for a chance to be revived, as much as we as artists often deal with feelings of desperation for being noticed/discovered. In a similar way, as these objects having no meaning if not discovered and reinvented, we as artists might feel the same way, given the today’s tendency of constant need for approval by superficial attention strongly influenced by todays social media culture. We might feel that if our work does not get the attention we think it deserves, suddenly it’s value decreases and loses its meaning (trash/disposable). In a way, and maybe most of all, the title reflects an honest self criticism with the intention of overcoming the need for constant approval. The idea of creating the 3 prints came from a feeling of lack and insecurity.
