Gallery 1957 welcomes Wilfred Timire to our residency program. Timire was born in 1989 in Harare, Zimbabwe; he lives and works in Ruwa. Timire studied at Peter Birch School of Art and in 2021 was awarded the inaugural ArtHarare Africa First Art Prize. Timire has a unique and well developed personal language, whose works combine recycled leather bags on which he stitches and sows expressive portraits.
