Errigal (An Earagail) is the tallest peak in Donegal (@govisitdonegal_ ) Considered one of the oldest place-names in Ireland, the story of Errigal is an ancient one. One theory places the origin of the name from the Old Irish airecal, meaning oratory. However no remains of an oratory were found so the whole mountain may have been referred to as a place of prayer.
