Please join us on Monday, June 27th at 7pm for the launch of Callie’s resident Susan Finlay’s new novel, “The Jacques Lacan Foundation.” The evening will also feature readings by Estelle Hoy and Stephanie LaCava. “The Jacques Lacan Foundation” charts an incisive path through the culture of academia, institutions, and the authorities that legitimize them. The novel follows Nicki Smith, a British expat in Austin and devotée of Kate Moss, at her “low-paid glamour job” within the eponymous Jacques Lacan Foundation. Ironic and clever, “The Jacques Lacan Foundation” explores rifts between language and meaning, and seeks to question the notion of and our obsessions with “authenticity.” Estelle Hoy is a writer and art critic based in Berlin. Her second book, the critically acclaimed “Pisti 80 Rue de Belleville” (After 8 Books), from which she will be reading, was released in 2020. Stephanie LaCava is a writer based in New York. She will read from her forthcoming novel, “I Fear My Pain Interests You,” published by Verso in September 2022. Admission is free, but capacity is limited; register online through the link in bio. #CalliesBerlin #apberlin #WritingResidency #SusanFinlay #EstelleHoy #StephanieLaCava #MoistBooks
