💀 Skeletons may be scary, but not if you’re celebrating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).💀 #diadelosmuertos
Last weekend, we enjoyed a Roaring 20’s Halloween Masquerade party @buenavistawines and sipping their delicious line-up of wines🍷 Scroll ⬅️
And I LOVE extending the celebration through this week!💃🏻 While Day of the Dead is celebrated right after October 31, it’s not the same as Halloween. Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated November 2.🇲🇽 On this day, it’s believed that the souls of the dead return to visit their living family members. Many people celebrate this day by visiting the graves of deceased loved ones and setting up altars with their favorite foods, drink and photos. These traditions are similar to Vietnamese culture where we remember/celebrate loved ones who have passed with their favorite food and drinks on the annual date of their passing.🇻🇳
✨Buena Vista is a great example of a winery that still honors the legacy of its founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy who established the winery in 1857. Now owned by the Boisset Family Estates, Buena Vista changed ownership several times and even went through years of dormancy during Prohibition, but the memory of Count Agoston Haraszthy lives on with the Founder’s Collection. A lineup of Red blends, the label showcases a sheriff theme since Haraszthy was one of the first sheriffs of San Diego County in 1850. @jc_boisset
💡Fun fact: Buena Vista Winery is California’s first premium winery. In 2012, the Champagne Cellar where I’m photographed here, completed restoration and the first vintage of wine to be made in the cellar finally commenced after decades of dormancy! Cheers to it’s revival!🥂
