In honor of #ImmigrantHeritageMonth @dhsgov Secretary Mayorkas held a special naturalization ceremony welcoming 50 new citizens. During the ceremony Secretary Mayorkas recognized @yeswecanwf co-founder Estefania Rebellon as an Outstanding American by Choice for her dedication and leadership to provide educational opportunities for children regardless of their location, legal status, or economic background. . @sec_mayorkas shared remarks about Rebellon's personal immigration journey and highlighted the importance of the work being done at Yes We Can World Foundation. . On stage Rebellon shared a heartfelt and inspiring speech highlighting how her personal journey as a refugee child led to the birth of Yes We Can; noting that our personal struggles can lead to a path to help others in need. . The Outstanding Americans by Choice initiative recognizes the outstanding achievements of naturalized U.S. citizens.
