The dress is inspired by the feathers of iconic bird of Borneo; The Great Argus, or its scientific name of Argusianus argus. The feathers of Ruai are used as ornaments on headgear of Iban and Dayak people of Sarawak. For this dress, the inspiration is translated into delicate embroidery, lending few couture techniques. The cascading asymmetrical feather pattern; more than 500 embroidered feather petals were made one by one, consuming laborious 720 hours and embellished with crystal stones; which also reflected the tones from the bird, from topaz hues to shades of teal. And to complete the dress, the feather petals are handsewn one by one, with finishing touches of gold threads. Exclusively made for the one and only @queenvivienna.
