Meet our dream team 😄! We continue with Alexandros Diamantopoulos, member of Santo Wines’ winemaking team! In his own words: ̈I was born and raised in Santorini! In a way, I was meant to fall in love with its unique vineyard and decide to be involved with it! That is why I studied oenology at the University of Western Attica, where my desire for wine knowledge developed rapidly. Currently I also hold the WSET Advanced Certificate in Wines, having a more global view of the wine dynamics and trends worldwide. I have been working at Santo Wines since 2016. I started as a sales person, where I loved the direct contact I had with the customers, trying to find the suitable wine for them. From 2020 until today, I have the pleasure of being a member of the oenological team of our winery, under the valuable guidance of the chief oenologist Mr. Varvarigos, who is like a teacher to me. The success of our wines is, among else, the result of the pleasant atmosphere that exists among the people of our team. What I love about Santorini is the sheer admiration for tradition, expressed in its picturesque villages, but also in the habits of its locals in terms of their entertainment, their cooking and in general their way of life. My favorite wine is the Santorini Grande Reserve, which I think highlights the complexity and dynamics of the Assyrtiko variety over time!"
