Want to see my unusual prep for the #imagebob22 awards?! Well it started with me heeling (healing!) my shoes!! We are so conditioned to buy a new outfit for big events & think that we have nothing to wear but we always have lots of options hanging in our wardrobe & we just have to remember at one time we really loved those clothes. It’s time to fall back in love with what we already own and re-wear our wardrobe with pride. Last night I wore my YSL Tribute Too sandals & a YSL clutch, I bought them when I was a fashion editor back in 2011. The sandals needed re-heeling but came with tips so I did it myself! I am getting into mending and repairing my own clothes because I think it’s important we re-learn to do things for ourselves where possible! I always use a leather cleaner & conditioner to keep my bags & heels clean & the leather moisturised to prolong their life & use. I did my own hair & make up thanks to @victorialyn amazing instagram winged eye reel I was able to DIY it! I didn’t have eyeshadow shields to create this eye so I used the paper guards from a box of eye lash dye I had. It’s all about being resourceful and using what you have! I dug out an old YSL eyeshadow palette I had to create this dramatic smoky eye. Again most of us have makeup accumulated over the years so is buying new products for a night out really necessary?!! Finally I put my outfit together from pieces in my wardrobe- my tux jacket was my dad’s from the 1970’s, my sequin pants I bought in 2016 from an Irish designer pop up store in Kildare village. My hair I pulled back into a ponytail & used a strand of my own hair to conceal the band. True story- I used a baby claw grip to secure the hair in place which used to hold an orchid plant in place😆 Lets normalise being resourceful, DIY & getting rid of any stigma about re-wearing what you have or shopping 2nd hand. We are ordinary people without celebrities bank balances! While it’s great to take inspiration & use our creativity It’s crazy to try keep up with their lifestyles!
