This is me. This is Toviel Wayne. Sun burnt, covered in sand and sea. Happy! He was just playing a soccer game with some local kids that he befriended while walking along Playa Esterillos on the West Coast of Costa Rica *(One of the boys took this first photo. The other two can be seen relaxing in slide 2)* It was half time and we were interrupted by a whistle from the kids father. This is when Tovi met Freddy, who handed each of the boys a freshly chopped coconut taken from a nearby tree. You should have seen Tovi grin. *(Freddy can be seen lounging in the background of slide 1 and in slide 3)* After a proper electrolytes break, sponsored by Mother Earth, the game continued. The score was 8 to 9 and it was getting competitive. Moms was laughing and cheering us on in the hammock nearby. “She seemed sweet” he thought. Luis and Tovi won the game! Hugs and high fives all around. After the game, Tovi was greeted by another fresh coconut. Freddy sat next to him and asked for help with his English which was perfect because Tovi needed help with his Spanish. They spoke for about 30 minutes and together had beautiful conversation. They wrote words in the sand with Freddys machete. It was so honest, and in that moment everything was alright in the world. Just two human beings connecting. With a coconut in hand Tovi said “hasta luego” to his new buddies and walked towards the setting sun. Excited to experience the journey ahead while never forgetting the experience he had just had. Tovi is feeling the effects of “Pura Vida” which is the saying here in Costa Rica. Literally translates to “Pure Life” Life is pure!
