In 2018, I was bad with money. Like bad bad. I lived paycheck to paycheck despite making a decent salary, and could never seem to get ahead. I finally decided to pull a little experiment on myself and track everything I spent money on for 2 weeks. The results shocked me. I spent $600 in two weeks on eating out, drinks, ordering in food, and more food. $600! It shook me because it made me realize- my money wasn’t aligned with my values, which meant that I really wasn’t living a life aligned with what I cared about most. I said I cared about travel, but hardly went anywhere because I never had money. I would’ve told you I cared about peace and stability— but my bank accounts would tell you differently. I would’ve told you I prioritized spending time with my friends and family, and yet half of that $600 came from random first dates, and ordering in take out all by myself! I had money— I was just spending it on things that didn’t bring me true value. This practice was so important for me to kind of shock myself back into reality. And honestly? Doing this one thing helped change my trajectory in a big way. I still track everything I spend because I like the data— but I’m happy to say my largest expenses go to what I value most. My business. Travel. A comfortable apartment. And financial security. Have you ever tracked what you spent? What was that like for you? If you haven’t— would you? And the thing I want to highlight— I decided to be frugal for a few years— from the end of 2018 to 2021. Just a few years of that— completely changed my path. Now? I’m not as frugal— I spend more on the things I love as long as I’m investing what I need to. But that’s the thing— a few years of hard work can set you up for life. ❤️ #investingforbeginners #stockmarket #wealthbuilders #financetips #stockmarketinvesting #fintok #fintoks
