The best things I ate in Los Angeles in 2025, part 1. Amidst a difficult year for LA (and really, the whole world), I was lucky to try so many amazing foods from so many amazing local restaurants. I’m excited to keep supporting local LA restaurants in 2026 so we can see the industry thrive and I hope you’ll join me! Now for my favorite bites…
As a fish lover, it’s difficult for me to not fill this list entirely with crudos and sushi. In fact, I’ve pushed myself to show incredible restraint by only including one sushi spot in this lineup and no crudos (although I could definitely fill a list on crudos alone). That being said, my love for bread and cookies also becomes very evident here. I love a good vegetable, but these were the bites that stayed running through my mind all year long. I had to split it up into two parts, so check out my profile for part 2.
1. An amazing, simple grilled fish that I would drive to Newport Beach for alone.
2. Somehow the best pasta I ate this year didn’t come from an Italian spot, but a French one.
3. Possibly the best tacos I’ve ever had. Idk.
4. As a Reese’s lover, this was a done deal for me.
5. Just an impeccably cooked chicken from a beloved LA institution.
6. I thought their tuna tostada was the best thing I’d ever eaten, and then I tried the kanpachi.
7. Incredible crispy skin, incredible flavors.
8. I think about this sweet potato like twice a week. Unreal.
9. The best espresso latte I had all year, albeit incredibly indulgent.
10. I could eat this rice by the barrel full.
11. A plate so good my table finished one and then ordered another.
12. This donut is insane.
13. Perhaps the most hyped up bread in LA and for good reason.
14. This will make my best eats list every time I have it no matter what. If anyone says this place isn’t worth the hype, I instantly don’t trust their taste.
Check my profile out for part 2!
