Friends for 12 years, in a relationship for 10 years, married for two years. As we approach our anniversary date, I thought I’d share some advice for newlyweds or the newly engaged: 1) Getting married might validate your relationship on the outside, but won’t fix anything broken on the inside. 2) You don’t have to agree on everything but you have to understand your partner’s point of view. 3) Sometimes, there’s no better teacher than time. 4) Sort your shit out before having kids.
