I used to be the type of person who believed that the only way to secure my financial future was to marry a guy who knew what the hell to do with money. I had zero intention of ever learning how to invest. I had no desire to pay my student loans off early because I figured I was in good company with the 45% of millennials going into debt for student loans. I figured I was just one of those people who was bad with money— ya know? Like it was a personality flaw instead of a skill I could choose to learn. Well, let me tell you how that went. When I was in my mid-twenties, I started dating someone seriously, we combined finances to a point, and over the course of about six months, I proceeded to go almost $10k in credit card debt to help him fund his business. It was struggle city and our whole relationship was marred because of our stress with money. Here’s what I learned: No one was going to care about my financial future as much as I would care about my financial future. Leaving that in the hands of someone else, it was no longer a risk I was willing to take. So I started and 2.5 years later? I’ve got enough money to let it sit in my retirement accounts until I’m 65 and I’ll still have over $3 million saved for retirement. Even if I don’t add another dime between now and then. I need you to do this for yourself. Because you are capable, you are worthy, and you are the best person for the job. #financetips #wealthbuilders #financialfreedom #feminist
