Sebaceous filaments vs blackheads - what’s the difference?
You see, blackheads are a type of congestion while sebaceous filaments are a normal part of our skin.
For a lot of clients with oily skin or enlarged pores sebaceous filaments might be easier to see - hence why they can bother some skin types and not others.
Although they are not meant to be extracted - they’ll just come back or you will cause long term damage if you squeeze too hard 🤕.
To help minimise the appearance of sebaceous filaments chemical exfoliants incl AHA’s and BHA’s can be handy. This will help remove dead skin cells, cut through oil and minimise pore size.
Also including ingredients like retinoids, to increase cell turnover and niacinamide to help control oil production can help.
AHA’s and BHA’s are also great for blackheads and they are best manually extracted in clinic to avoid long term damage/scarring of the skin ✨
