Wells Fargo was slapped with the biggest fine in the history of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau after employees opened unauthorized accounts for existing employees 😲 they also transferred funds without customers’ consent AND submitted credit card applications in customers names without their knowledge or consent. AND?!? They also enrolled people in online banking services without consent, AND used email addresses that customers did not create AND ORDERED AND ACTIVATED DEBIT CARDS WITH PIN NUMBERS FOR THEM. The audacity. Wells employees opened 1.5 MILLION unauthorized accounts, 85k in which accrued a total of $2 million in fees. The CFPB also unearthed half a million in unauthorized credit card account applications, which accused nearly half a million in fees. How they are still allowed to do bank things? Baffles me. This shit went on for years and highlights the need to make sure you are banking with the right people.
