LE PETIT PRINCE, IN LIVING COLOR
Part 1: The Flowers
To tell the story of the #BALMAINFW22 collection, Balmain tapped visual artist @princejyesi for an electric reinterpretation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “Le Petit Prince”. A natural continuation after March’s Fall-Winter 2022 runway presentation – which featured quotes and inspirations from the book at the heart of the collection. Yet Gyasi’s modern interpretation pulls us away from Saint-Exupéry’s familiar watercolors: the artist opts for vibrant recreations of the story’s familiar symbols set in his hometown of Accra, Ghana, helping us to see enduring truths about acceptance, strength, and discovery with fresh eyes.
