One of my favourite banners. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the pandemic I learned about The Outside Project @lgbtiqoutside , a community centre providing services and shelter to homeless LGBTQI+ youth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Since making the banners and researching their stories, I always wanted to be able to carve space into my practice so that I could make banners to gift to community spaces, and so I asked if The Outside Project would like one. I could never have imagined that this is what they would have asked for, but it’s the best ever and I was so proud to make it 💕 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When it arrived, the community space was closed due to lockdown, so they asked if they could lend it to @queerhouseparty , a group of housemates, some of who worked for The Outside Project at the time, that had started weekly DIY virtual parties from their living room to support and connect the queer community during lockdown. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And so it became the backdrop to many a happy night, watching the QHP crew DJ in front of it from my living room. Eventually the community space opened up again, so the banner went back too, and QHP asked FOR THEIR OWN! I was overjoyed. I love watching all their successes, they are doing THE MOST EXCITING THINGS and they deserve it all.
