She may have been small but she broke every expectation of a small fluffy dog. When we were young we fought off a car jacker together, we bought matching Juicy sweatsuits, and we hated what the snow did to our outfits. We are Texans after all. She hiked 8 miles in the sierras in a single day and chased a 4 ft snake up a hill in Griffith Park. She made a pillow out of a 60 pound Pitbull and pranced a bit after being groomed. She hated kids, until I had one. Then she became a nanny, dutifully getting up for every feeding only to fall asleep sitting up at 3am. She let the boys pet her with their sticky hands, walk her with their unstable toddles, and she let them hug her just a little too tight. And she hugged me, I mean really hugged me, when my dad died. I often said she would outlive us all because she had defied every other expectation... but in this year of loss, I’m just grateful for this year at home with Honey. RIP. 💜
