4 years on...
Exactly 4 years ago I received my diagnosis of locally advanced bowel cancer.
I had no idea how my life would pan out after the 21st September 2018.
Dreams and hopes felt shattered.
My life as I knew it ripped from beneath my feet.
My future felt uncertain, that of my family too.
And my life has never been the same since.
Little did I know, I would eventually come out the other side, an upgraded version in some ways of my former self (minus some bits of organs plus some scars and ailments). Viewing challenges as opportunities, and acknowledging and embracing imperfections.
My growth mindset has developed taking on a whole host of opportunities subsequently, many I wouldn’t of dreamt of.... All because of cancer.
Life has a funny (not so funny), weird, ironic and mischievous way sometimes....it really does.
So 4 years on, I’ll now be giving a talk to young adults and teens tonight as a Trustee, a patient and a doctor @teensunitefightingcancer, to those who find themselves somewhere down the line of life after cancer and hopefully giving them hope, that you can make a go of things “on the other side”, it’s not easy, it’s not pretty some days but it is possible. Possible to find the light in the darkness and possible to shine once more. I thank my lucky ⭐️ for 4 more years. Xx
