Fueling at the #Tahoe200 part 2! Still posting at the pace of a π...um, my 200 mile pace π
I randomly love this photo because I think it portrays the race vibes so well, but also might make no sense to anyone who isnβt familiar with trail ultras. Is this some kind of a cult? Why yes, yes it is...
This was the morning of day 2 and it was freezing! The aid stations set up these portable fire pits and blankets π I had just spent the last 6 hours miserably zombie shuffling through 15 miles of nausea π€’ Somehow, my appetite began to return at this break. Next to my pancake is a cough drop, which helps when the air is dry, especially at altitude, and was something I could always take without puking. I love carrying a bunch of these in my pockets!
2. Pacer @cyn_chiu and I taking a break on a freezing windy peak. I loved and hated these ritz crackers. When I was sick, the richness was horrible. I never even realized ritz crackers were so rich and buttery until then. At one point, I thought i took a bite and declared victory. Cynthia raised her eyebrows. When I looked down, my teeth had barely scraped the edge. π But! when I wasnβt nauseous, they were amaaaazing and SO satisfying!!
3. Had a surprisingly great appetite at mile 175! Downed 2 of these veggie dogs, a coffee and some oreos! π The bandage between my fingers was for crashing into the bushes while peeing, zero balance/coordination at that point π€£
4. Fresh hot hash browns at mile 195 π I was sooo sleepy and cold I just wanted to climb into that hot plate and pass out. But I had 10 miles to go, and it tasted amazing.
5. Tums for breakfast...
6. Asian snacks!
7. I did eat some gels!
8. Everything everywhere all at once bagel
9. A plate of spaghetti at the finish line, eating it on the ride home. I actually fell asleep while eating (body still on autopilot) and when I woke up all the spaghetti was gone and I was sad.
There was a lot of other food involved, including Chinese congee that my crew lovingly prepared for me π€―π₯° But, these captions are so limiting π
until next time! haha thanks for reading/eating with me!
