📝 “How do you deal with being a celebrity?” was a bomb question the athletes were asked during the notable Q & A.
The athletes were stunned by this very query after staying back to spend more time with the spectators after the last event of Day 1. You could almost hear their mind talk during the five-second pause met with chuckles after the ask, “Hold up, I’m a celebrity?” Their faces are described as innocent unaware that as a collective, their impact grows daily and their reach goes as far as millions in social media, among other platforms, in this global community.
“Why don’t we actually ask @tiaclair1,” they cackled as @blacksmifff wittingly suggested. Even the six-time fittest woman on earth, composed, showed a little struggle to formulate a response. Playfully admitting she hasn’t felt much pressure in a long time, she gracefully answered;
“We have so much passion for health and fitness and we get addicted to the community aspect of it. If it wasn’t for the supporters within the community and the sport, we wouldn’t be to do what we do. I don’t consider myself a celebrity per se but it is awesome to see people inspired by what we do on a daily basis and it contributes to the motivation we have. When the people in the community show their gratitude to you for putting yourself out there, it’s really humbling. Just being out in the community reminds us why we do what we do because it does get pretty dark sometimes when we are training really hard. If it wasn’t for the people who appreciate the sport of Crossfit, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.”
It was never about the spotlight and never will be. It is for the love of the sport and the community, the rest is a bonus.
