I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’m trying to do as a filmmaker — and I’ve realized that it’s important to me that my films not only tell a story, but that they also create an experience. With CATALINA, from the start, my goal was for you to feel like you’re experiencing a core memory. I wanted you to feel like the fourth friend on the camping trip, escaping to this slice of paradise, even if for a moment. @sammydigi poured his heart into his script, and I became obsessed with making sure that you could palpably feel it. We all did. Our team agonized over every frame, every sound, every pixel of color — with care, and intention, and with the hope that maybe this thing we were making could mean something to someone. Here are some of my favorite frames. I truly can’t wait to share this film with the @outfest audience tomorrow.
