(2/3) ...Visually, it looked stunning. The art direction was on point. The set was breathtaking. In walk the models, a collection of men that literally made my mouth water. We had wanted to shoot the boys with water and snow to add some ambiance to the air which I explained to the ice man who in turn, backed up, I shit you not, wood chipper and threw giant blocks of ice in. Completely shutting down the shoot due to the shards of ice that were embedded in the faces and eyes of the boys. It was so so traumatic I ended up having a fight on set, in front of everybody, with the ice man which caused us to go into overtime. I had sent my assistant at the time to talk to the pilot and the crane operator to see what it would cost to go a bit over. He came back with the response "$100 an hour." In my job, I am meant to come up with a budget, they approve it, whatever I spend, I spend, what's leftover is what I make for my own fee. I was so laser focused on the shoot itself, I didn't really think it through and had an assistant who was frankly, inexperienced. I only say that to be polite. The guy was a fucking idiot.
