The Rockefeller Foundation staff rolled-up their sleeves this week to volunteer at local non-profits. Volunteers removed trash from the Canal, the towpath, and the surrounding park area. (2) Volunteers distributed ~200 meals to food insecure neighbors in NYC’s Chinatown. @Chinatownlove's gift-a-meal program purchases meals from local Chinatown businesses to serve their local community. #sendchinatownlove (3) @exhale2inhale provides Trauma-Informed Yoga Classes. New York staff assembled kits for the beneficiaries of the program and participated in a yoga class. #DVAM (4) @NewWomenNY has empowered hundreds of immigrant women in New York City so they can reach their full professional potential. Volunteers ran mock interviews, pitch practices, and career advice sessions. (5) @24HourPlays uplifts creative communities w/ high-velocity theater. NY staff provided career guidance and mentorship and participated in a “bite-size” version of the creative, 24-hour process. (6) DC staff prepared food for the Pet Pantry (@HumaneRescue), providing free pet food and supplies to DC residents. #AdoptHRA (7) Nairobi staff volunteered at Kawangware Primary School where #CupofUji is running a feeding program serving a cup of porridge per child over lunch hour. Volunteers cleaned the compound, scrubbed the floors and the highlight was helping prepare the porridge and serve it!
