Exactly 2 years ago today, my #1 dream came true and I performed with Green Day. I was introduced to them at 7 years old, and I could vividly remember dreaming of sharing the stage with them. At that time, I of course never in a million years thought that it would ever happen, let alone even them knowing who I was. As I grew older and started to see them in concert, I had countless of failed attempts, but I never gave up. I knew one day that I would have my time. The day it happened, I already knew that it was my turn. 0 doubt. I will never be able to fully explain the feeling, but my gut completely told me that it was me. And I was right. I had my best friend AND my parents there in the second row. I remember looking down at my mom and dad and they were just sobbing because they knew my dream came true. It was all I talked about as a kid. Green Day is the reason why I’m still alive and breathing. The amount of bullying and harassment I went through as a kid is horrific and I don’t wish that upon anybody. This band has gotten me through the darkest times of my life and I will forever be grateful for their music and the experiences I’ve had with them. Being able to hug Billie tight and tell him how much he means to me will forever be cherished. I hope you can see that I am living proof that you should never give up on your dreams, no matter how wild they are. To this day, I cry every single time I watch the video.
