(1/3) When I was first asked to do this job I was super excited. Not thinking about how difficult it would be. It would be for Hugo Boss Jeans by Fabien Baron from what I remember, shot by Patrick Demarchelier. I took the concept given to me as an apocalyptic moment. So, I built a mud field that faded into blackness in the background and had the essence that we were in the middle of a heroic rescue mission. In order to do this, I built a 40 x 40 stage, 4' high, built edges with 2 x 6 studs and filled the entire reservoir with dirt off the Hudson River. 3 truck loads, mind you. Then, sprayed it down with water creating an enormous mud pit. With a city crane suspending an actual helicopter. All of this was built in a warehouse outside of New York. And the trouble started right away.
