How to make your photos (and videos) better part 2: Add layers.
Composition is a huge part of photography. Without it, images look boring and busy.
One of my favorite forms of composition is to add layers to photos: Have something in the foreground you can touch, your subject in the middle ground, and something in the distance to lend perspective to the image.
For example, you could have foliage in the foreground, a tractor in the middle ground, and a vineyard rising up in the background.
Adding layers gives the image depth and can help make the viewer feel like they are active participants in the scene. The layers can also help frame your subject so it stands out more.
Here are some ideas for how to do this:
●Peer through leaves to your subject
●Photograph over someone's shoulder, keeping their arm in view
●Place a glass of wine in front and to the side of your lens and have only the bottle and label in focus
P.S. You can do this with videos too!
